Polyethylene

Polyethylene as an Abrasive or Exfoliant are natural or synthetic cosmetic ingredient which are added to rub away or scrape the surface layer of cells or tissue from the skin. Polyethylene as a Binder is a substance which added to cosmetic products to dispense, swell, or absorb water, which increases consistency and holds ingredients together. Polyethylene as an Emulsion Stabilizer provides a firmer texture to cosmetic products. While they are not true emulsifiers, they help to stabilize emulsions and therefore improves shelf-life. Polyethylene as a Film Former forms a thin coating on the skin or hair upon drying. Film former may create a moisture barrier. Polyethylene as a Viscosity adjuster is a cosmetic ingredient used to increase or decrease the thickness of a liquid product.
