Cookies are small data files that are downloaded to your device when you visit a website or application. When you return to the website, or another website that recognizes that cookie, the cookie is sent to that site to enhance your experience by remembering your preferences, providing tailored advertising, helping you navigate more efficiently or keeping you logged in. The Wella Company website may use similar technologies to cookies, including pixel tags, mobile device identifiers, web beacons and server logs to understand how you are using our website and provide adverts tailored to you and your interests. These technologies often take the form of a small, transparent graphic images placed on a web page or in an email. They work with cookies and capture data like your IP address, when you viewed the page or email and what device you were using. Where we use web beacons in the emails we send to you, these are used to enable us to assess the level of engagement our emails receive by measuring information such as the delivery rates, open rates and click through rates which our emails achieve.

There are different types of cookies, for example because of how long they are stored or who is placing them:
- Session cookies: these are cookies which last for as long as you keep your web browser open and expire when you close your web browser.
- Persistent cookies: these are cookies which stay on your device for a set period of time and expire at a fixed point in time or if you manually delete them from your browser, whichever occurs first.
- First party cookies: these are cookies set by the website that you are visiting at that time, either by us, or by a third party at our request.
- Third party cookies: these are cookies that are set by a party other than that of the website you are visiting.
- Social Media cookies - Wella Company websites use cookies set by Social Sites (such as the Facebook “like” button) which enables you to share and engage with our Content via these Social Sites. By allowing these cookies, these Social Sites may be able to track your browser activity and build up a profile of your interests.
- Strictly necessary cookies: These cookies are required for the running and operation of the our websites and cannot be switched off in our systems. For example, by facilitating your account login when accessing secure areas of the website; allowing you to navigate around the websites including remembering text you have entered into a form; determining if your browser has JavaScript enabled to allow you to view content; and using an online shopping basket.
- Functional cookies: These cookies enable our websites to provide you with a customized experience when navigating them. For example, embedded YouTube video / visuals, by remembering the choices you make (such as your username, language or the region you are in) and provide enhanced, more personal features. These cookies can also be used to remember changes you have made to text size, fonts and other parts of web pages that you can customize.
- Performance cookies: These cookies collect information about how our websites are used to help us understand how they are performing in order to improve the quality of the website and your experience using the website. For example, by counting the pages visitors visit most often on our Sites and whether any users receive error messages.
- Targeting cookies: These cookies are set by us and our third-party partners (including Google) to help us understand how you use our websites in order to build a profile of your interests - learn how Google processes personal data here. The information collected via these cookies will be used to show you better and more personal adverts on our websites and other sites you visit. We will share the personal information collected about your use of our websites with our advertisers and analysts.
We may share certain information with our advertising partners - including platforms such as Meta and Google. This information may include your email address (where appropriate), device and usage data, and information collected through cookies or similar technologies. Depending on the advertising activity, the data we share may be identifiable (for example, when using hashed email addresses for audience matching) or aggregated (for example, when analysing trends or campaign performance). These partners use this information to place or optimise our adverts, help us reach people with similar interests, and improve how our advertising and direct marketing campaigns are targeted. More specifically:
- Meta (Facebook / Instagram): We use Meta’s Online Business Tools, such as pixels or similar integrations, which enable us to measure engagement, understand how users interact with our content, and support our advertising activities. These tools may result in the collection and sharing of certain information with Meta for advertising, analytics, and measurement in accordance with Meta’s data practices.
- TikTok: We use TikTok Business Products - such as TikTok Pixel, lead-generation tools, or SDKs - which may collect and transmit information (including [contact details and technical data]) to TikTok for advertising, analytics, and campaign measurement. In such cases, TikTok’s Business Products (Data) Terms may apply.
- Nielsen: We use Nielsen’s digital measurement products to better understand how users engage with our content across devices. Data gathered through these tools may be shared with Nielsen to support analytics, measurement, and reporting activities.
When you: (i) sign in to the Wella Company website using a Social Site or other websites; (ii) access Social Sites using the Wella Company website or other websites; and/or (iii) submit content to Social Sites or other websites using the Wella Company website; that Social Site or other website may use cookies and similar technologies to collect data about user behaviour for their own purposes. This use of cookies is in line with that third party’s own cookie policy/notice, over which we have no control.
You can manage your cookie preferences and consents via our Privacy Preference Centre which you can access by clicking on the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer on the Wella Company website. The Privacy Preference Centre also sets out: (i) details of any third-party vendors who are using cookies on the Wella Company website you are visiting; and (ii) how long each cookie will be stored for on your device; and (iii) the technical name of each cookie.
You are welcome to block the use of some or all the cookies and similar technologies we use on our website. However, please be aware that doing so may impair some features and/or services on our website and its functionality or may even render some or all of it unusable. Additionally, added functionality which is provided by personalization technologies will likely not work - impairing our ability to provide content or products which are most relevant to you.
BROWSER SETTINGS
You can also accept or reject some or all cookies (for example, blocking all third-party cookies) by adjusting your browser settings. However, please be aware that when you disable cookies, some features and services on the Wella Company website may not function properly and may cancel opt-outs that rely on cookies, such as web analytics. Some browsers, such as Chrome and Firefox, allow you to change your settings to browse in ‘incognito’ mode, limiting the amount of data placed on your machine and automatically deleting any persistent cookies placed on your device when you finish your browsing session.
EXISTING COOKIES
To clear cookies that have previously been placed on your browser, you should select the option to clear your browsing history and ensure that the option to delete or clear cookies is included when you do so.
WEB BEACONS
By setting your email account to display emails as text only, you may be able to prevent the use of some web beacons, however, please be aware that our emails won’t look as pretty and some functionality may be disabled. Please consult the "Help" section of your email client for more information. Alternatively, you can remove yourself completely from our mailing list, in particular, by going to the bottom of any email from us and clicking on the relevant 'unsubscribe' link in the emails you receive or by contacting us using the details found in the section “How do I contact Wella Company?”.
MOBILE DEVICE COOKIES
You can manage your cookie preferences and consents via our Privacy Preference Centre which you can access by clicking on the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer on the Wella Company website.
For your mobile device, you can understand which third parties have currently enabled cookies on your mobile device and how to opt-out of some of those cookies by accessing the Network Advertising Initiative's website at https://www.networkadvertising.org/mobile-choices from your mobile device. On your mobile device you may also select “Limit Ad Tracking” (on iOS devices) or “Opt out of Interest-Based Ads” (on Android) which allows you to limit the use of information about your use of apps for purposes of serving ads targeted to your interests.

We will retain your Personal Data in connection with the cookies collected only for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Cookie Policy or as set out in our contracts with our business partners. After the purpose of processing is achieved, we may retain your Personal Data for compliance with legal or regulatory obligations or for our enforcement or defence of legal rights.
