FEBRUARY 2, 2021 - To celebrate World Cancer Day (Feb 4) and Valentine’s Day (Feb 14), @OPI will kick off a social media campaign with Stand Up to Cancer (SU2C) to raise awareness about the disease. From February 8-14, 2021, OPI and SU2C will encourage cancer caregivers and all those that want to support the cancer community to post a photo kissing a loved one or blowing a kiss with OPI Red-painted nails and the hashtag #KissCancerGoodbye.

In addition to the #KissCancerGoodbye awareness campaign, OPI will donate $25,000 to SU2C and include a donation widget on opi.com to collect donations and further amplify SU2C’s mission. This initiative is part of OPI Cares, a newly revamped arm of the company aimed at giving back to charitable causes that are most important to the brand.

“I’m so grateful to be able to make a difference with the help of OPI,” states OPI Co-Founder and Brand Ambassador Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. “Giving back is a huge part of the brand’s DNA and giving to charitable causes has been an integral part of OPI’s core values since day one. Everyone can participate in this campaign and wear OPI Red. It’s so important to do our part to raise awareness, and this is a simple way to make an impact.”

“OPI Red is the first color ever created in 1989,” adds OPI Global Director of Color Collections Jill Bartoshevich. “It’s an empowering shade and the universal color of love. With it also being OPI’s 40th anniversary, the shade that started it all felt like the perfect fit to help us #KissCancerGoodbye.”

Stand Up To Cancer® (SU2C) raises funds to accelerate the pace of research to get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now. SU2C, a division of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, was established in 2008 by media and entertainment leaders who utilize these communities’ resources to engage the public in supporting a new, collaborative model of cancer research, to increase awareness about cancer prevention, and to highlight progress being made in the fight against the disease. As of August 2020, more than 1,950 scientists representing more than 210 institutions are involved in SU2C-funded research projects.

Under the direction of our Scientific Advisory Committee, led by Nobel laureate Phillip A. Sharp, Ph.D., SU2C operates rigorous competitive review processes to identify the best research proposals to recommend for funding, oversee grants administration, and ensure collaboration across research programs.

Current members of the SU2C Council of Founders and Advisors (CFA) include Katie Couric, Sherry Lansing, Kathleen Lobb, Lisa Paulsen, Rusty Robertson, Sue Schwartz, Pamela Oas Williams, and Ellen Ziffren. The late Laura Ziskin and the late Noreen Fraser are also co-founders. Sung Poblete, Ph.D., R.N., serves as SU2C’s CEO. For more information, visit StandUpToCancer.org.
